Homeschool Week In Review Year 1 Week 8

Things seem to be settling down and we’re finding a rythym in our homeschool, which makes me very happy. 🙂 I love things to feel “normal”. 🙂 We accomplished quite a bit this week, learned some new things, practiced things we already knew, and discovered a couple new tools. I’m just going to share the highlights. Math: This week Hanna continued to work on her Pet Store which is part of her Your Business Math course. She also played Prodigy quite a bit, which seemed to focus on finding area and multiplying 2 digit numbers. She’s coming along with it, and not feeling so discouraged about multiplication ~ which is always a good thing. Social Studies: We had to do a little reframing around the Missouri Scavenger Hunt (again), which helped her  get a little more excited about it. My daughter used to like to read. Then she didn’t. The downward spiral began when she was in public school and had to start reading  20 minutes a day. She’s the kind of kid who rebels when you start telling her she has to do something. We used to fight tooth and nail when it came to 20 tiny minutes of reading. It was a knife to my heart! Being an avid reader, it was hard to see my kiddo, who used to love to read, not want to read at all anymore. But… I was persistent and willing to buy books and books and books until we found something that captured her interest, and got her reading. (It was still a struggle, but a little less so).
